Munich Security Conference 2021 to be postponed

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the 57th Munich Security Conference will not take place in February 2021. Wolfgang Ischinger, Chairman of the Munich Security Conference, explains this decision with the following statement:

“The Munich Security Conference has been held each February for over five decades. Next year, the ongoing pandemic will prevent us from hosting the MSC, as originally planned, on February 19-21, 2021.

Given current global threats and challenges to international security and stability, the need for the MSC to provide a platform for informal exchanges between international decision-makers as early as possible in 2021 is clear and urgent.

Therefore, we have not taken this decision to postpone lightly. We will continue to work with our partners to identify a new date for the 57th Munich Security Conference, which will be announced as soon as this can be confirmed with the relevant authorities.

As the MSC's Chairman, my aim remains to convene the 57th Munich Security Conference as close as possible to its traditional physical format as soon as conditions permit.”

MSC Special Edition and Road to Munich

On February 19th, 2021, the day the 57th Munich Security Conference would have kicked-off normally, the Munich Security Conference will host the MSC Special Edition. This TV production marks the beginning of the "Road to Munich". Stops on this road will include virtual high-level events and initiatives to prepare the ground for the 57th Munich Security Conference, which is currently planned for February 2022.
