Jens Stoltenberg will assume the Chair of the Munich Security Conference (MSC) once his public duties in Norway have come to an end. We have not set himself or us a deadline in this regard. Until then, in accordance with the MSC Foundation Charter, Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger will continue to serve as Chair. To prepare himself for his future role at the helm of the MSC, Jens Stoltenberg will be invited to join the Foundation Council in November 2025.
Wolfgang Ischinger, Chair of the Munich Security Conference and President of the MSC Foundation Council: “I am thrilled that Jens Stoltenberg remains fully committed to joining the MSC Team and will assume the role of Conference Chair once his public duties in Norway have come to an end.”
Jens Stoltenberg, incoming Chair of the Munich Security Conference: “I want to thank Wolfgang Ischinger and the members of the MSC Foundation Council for their continued support and patience. Everybody knows that I had to change my plan to join the MSC earlier this year when Prime Minister Støre asked me to join his government. My commitment to chairing the MSC remains unchanged. I am looking forward to joining the MSC Foundation Council now and to assuming the role as Chair once my public service in Norway has ended. I am now awaiting the formal invitation to join the Foundation Council.”
