Incoming MSC Chair Jens Stoltenberg to serve as Minister of Finance of Norway

The two current MSC Vice-Chairs, Benedikt Franke and Rainer Rudolph, have been asked by the President of the MSC Foundation Council to help lead the organization in the interim period until Jens Stoltenberg returns from public office.

Jens Stoltenberg, incoming Chair of the Munich Security Conference: “I am deeply honoured to have been asked to help my country at this critical stage. Having carefully considered the current challenges we face, I have decided to accept Prime Minister Støre's request to serve as his Minister of Finance. I will return to the Munich Security Conference and to my other responsibilities when my tenure is over. I am grateful for the decision to temporarily release me from my duties while I serve my country once again. I will remain engaged with the MSC and its many activities as much as my new office allows in the meantime.”

Until his return from public service, the MSC is in the best of hands, as the two current Vice-Chairs Benedikt Franke and Rainer Rudolph and an experienced Board of Directors will help carry the ball."

The Munich Security Conference is the world's leading forum for debating international security policy. Its annual flagship conference will take place in the coming week from February 14th to February 16th, hosting around 60 heads of state and government and around 150 ministers from all over the world.
