MSC announces AI-Cybersecurity Essay Prize Competition

The Munich Security Conference (MSC) and Binding Hook proudly announce the AI-Cybersecurity Essay Prize Competition, inviting experts to explore the impact of Artificial Intelligence on cybersecurity. Submit your essay until January 2, 2025.

As cyber threats rapidly evolve, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is at the forefront, shaping the next generation of cyber defenses and bringing new challenges and opportunities. The AI-Cybersecurity Essay Prize Competition seeks insightful analyses on the impact of these technological shifts and recommendations for policymakers by inviting distinguished researchers in cybersecurity and AI to put forward their perspectives on this crucial issue. A particular emphasis is placed on understanding the consequences for Europe, urging participants to delve into how these technological shifts affect European security and policy.

The essay question is as follows: “How will Artificial Intelligence change cybersecurity, and what are the implications for Europe? Discuss potential strategies that policymakers can adapt to navigate these changes.” Essays will be reviewed by Binding Hook and a review board co-chaired by Kersti Kaljulaid, former President of the Republic of Estonia, and Shashank Joshi, Defence Editor at The Economist.

More details on the prizes awarded for the top essays and the main criteria for a successful submission can be found on the official website for the competition at Binding Hook. Applications must be submitted through this online submission form. Winners will not only receive a monetary reward but also have their work published on Binding Hook, the European Cyber Conflict Research Initiative’s (ECCRI) platform for technology and security, and honoured at the award ceremony at our MSC 2025 (February 14-16, 2025).
