MSC Hosts Munich Leaders Meeting in Washington, DC (May 9-11, 2022)
From May 9 to 11, 2022, the Munich Security Conference (MSC) will host a Munich Leaders Meeting (MLM) in Washington, DC. The event will bring together around 80 senior decision-makers and experts from both sides of the Atlantic, including several heads of state and government, foreign and defense ministers, and parliamentarians. The MLM will discuss how transatlantic partners can build a more future-proof alliance and advance joint action and leadership on the most pressing security challenges, including the current war in Ukraine.
Sustaining Transatlantic Momentum and Advancing Dialogue on Common Challenges at the MLM 2022
Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the transatlantic partners displayed an unprecedented degree of cooperation and joint action. As the war in the heart of Europe rages on, preserving unity and further deepening resolve will be critical. In Washington, DC, the Munich Leaders Meeting aims to advance the debate on how transatlantic allies can build on the current momentum and develop joint responses – to Russia’s war in Ukraine but also beyond. Confronted with a tide of global crises, including climate change and pandemics, the continued rise of authoritarianism, and increasing great power competition, transatlantic leadership and joint action have never been more important.
This Munich Leaders Meeting will bring together an exclusive group of around 80 high-level decision-makers and senior experts from both sides of the Atlantic and beyond. Participants include President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, UK Secretary of State for Defence Ben Wallace, Head of the German Federal Chancellery Wolfgang Schmidt, National Security Advisor to the US-President Jake Sullivan, and other high-level participants, including from Congress and the US administration. The MLM is supported by the Boston Consulting Group, the Rockefeller Foundation and other established MSC-partners.
