Informationen zur virtuellen Teilnahme an der MSC 2022 (auf Englisch)
The MSC 2022 will be different from recent editions. In order to adhere to current COVID-19 regulations, the size and footprint of the conference have been reduced massively, with numbers of participants, events, locations, and delegation sizes cut by two thirds.
- In one important way, however, the MSC 2022 will be just like its predecessors: It will be attended by many of the world’s key decision-makers, including more than 30 Heads of State and Government, 100 ministers and the heads of many of the most important international organisations such as the UN, NATO, and the EU.
- To ensure maximum participation and interaction with the broader community the MSC has teamed up with various organisations in order to provide digital access to off-site participants and live interaction opportunities with audiences around the world. In addition to its digital conferencing platform, it has created a townhall space together with the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and a dedicated interview space with YouTube.
- Together with its media partners, including its host broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the MSC will stream and broadcast as much of the program as possible.
The MSC Townhall
In close cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the MSC has added a highly interactive and globally visible element to the official main program, the MSC Townhall. The Townhall is located in the Komödie of the Hotel Bayerischer Hof and enables particularly interactive exchanges between the speakers and the audience. Townhalls are live-streamed and can be viewed on the MSC Website, the MSC Conferencing Platform as well as many global TV programmes.
Topics covered in townhall sessions include, amongst others, the Polypandemic, food security, climate diplomacy, the role of cities, the situation in Afghanistan, the Abraham Accords, and Transitional Justice and Accountability. Speakers will include Heads of State and Government, the Heads of International Organisations like the IMF, World Bank, UNDP, UNFCCC, the World Trade Organisation, or the World Food Programme, as well as key thought leaders from around the world. The Townhall space will be opened by Federal Minister Svenja Schulze on February 18.
The YouTube Studio
International politics meets generation YouTube. From February 18 to 20, MSC participants such as the Leader of the Belarussian Opposition, Swetlana Tichanowskaja, will face questions from Ana Kasparian from the United States and Diana zur Löwen from Germany. The two YouTube creators will each appear as a duo with TV presenters Jaafar Abdul Karim (Deutsche Welle) and Hadley Gamble (CNBC). The interviews will be produced at an exclusive YouTube Studio at the heart of the Hotel Bayerischer Hof and will be broadcast live on the YouTube channels of the participating YouTubers as well as on the YouTube channels of Deutsche Welle and CNBC. In addition to that, the interviews will be published on all MSC platforms immediately after the conference.
The MSC Conferencing Platform
The platform developed in partnership with satis&fy will allow all invited guests off-site access to most formats at the conference, from the main stages to the exclusive hybrid roundtables. It will also allow digital and physical participants to interact with each other, create theme-specific chat groups and event spaces and participate in live-debates and polls. Media representatives can access the MSC Conferencing Platform to follow most aspects of the conference live, gain exclusive access to photo material, arrange interviews, and participate in digital press briefings. Registration is possible via the MSC website, until February 16.
Live-Streams & Broadcasts
Thanks to its media partnerships, the MSC will be able to broadcast and live stream most sessions and events during the conference weekend on the MSC website. BR24 will provide a live broadcast from the main stages while the MSC website and social media channels will also provide additional streams from other spaces such as the MSC Townhall, MSC Conversations, and selected high-profile side-events.
